Typical cost of what? An OS is a far different thing from a DB(R)M from a programming language etc. Different complexities etc. _________________ Utility and Program control cards are NOT, repeat NOT, JCL. |

How does IBM price its software license? Is it on MIPS or per CPU irrespective of CPU power. What happens if there are multiple LPARs or CPUs. I was keen to know what strategies do the companies have for pricing software. |

I'm not in the purchasing area of IT, but my guess would be that IBM is the appropriate place to ask that question. If an IBM customer does happen to know, I don't think it would be appropriate for them to release that information to the general public. Just my guess, since I've never been involved in the sales or purchase area. _________________ ....Terry |
