				| Dear Respective!
I am having doubt about how we can read and update VSAM files using the cobol program.

What are the advantages of REDINES other than Memory share and group initialization?

				| sweetvenki, 1> read the book "MVS/VSAM for the Application Programmer" by Gary D Brown. It is a good book and has plenty of examples programs which should solve your queries.

2> You can refer the IBM cobol language reference for more on REDEFINES.
