Hi,
When defining the file in file control section for a VSAM file, if we specify
record key WS-XXX.
and in the program
move xxx to ws-xxx.
dont we need to specify READ FILE-NAME KEY is ws-xxx?
will read file-name in to ws-record serve the purpose?
my question: is " key is " not necessary?
Regards,
KRK123. |

Krk123,
You don't need a READ FILE-NAME KEY is ws-xxx. There is a start command which sets up the key you want to read. A read does not require a start and and a readnxt will read sequentially from the first record defined in the key.
Also check this link for detailed explanation of Reading records from a VSAM file
Hope this helps...
Cheers
