				|
 |
				| Hi,
We are changing an old cobol program which is having statement

 WRITE RECORD1 FROM TEMP-RECORD AFTER POSITIONING REPORT-CC

Here REPORT-CC is having value '0'.

But when compiling we are getting error saying that "POSITIONING was not defined as a data-name".

Please help me to solve this.

 regards
 Ranjish

				| Ranjish,
I guess your program is OS/VS cobol program . POSITIONING verb was dropped from the COBOL-85 standard. You can use ADVANCING verb. You need to convert the values being moved to report-cc into numeric equivalents.

  	  | Code: | | WRITE RECORD1 FROM TEMP-RECORD AFTER ADVANCING 2 LINES

 |

The 0 value of report-cc translates t0 2 lines. check this link for explanation of carraige control characters.

 Hope this helps...

 Cheers
