Hi All,

Is it possible to convert EBCDIC format file into UTF-8 format file using SORT or ICETOOL. If so could you please share syntax for it. If not in SORT/ICETOOL please share any other possibilities.

Thank you

psivamadhusudhan,

Sort products do not have the ability to perform character set conversions. However you can use iconv utility to do the conversion. Check this link

Thanks Kolusu for direction. Tried below code.

Code:
//EDCICONV  EXEC PGM=EDCICONV,REGION=0M,
//          PARM=('FROMCODE(IBM-037),TOCODE(IBM-1208)')
//SYSUT1    DD DSN=INFILE,DISP=SHR
//SYSUT2    DD DSN=OUTFILE,
//             DISP=(NEW,CATLG,DELETE),
//             DCB=*.SYSUT1,
//             DATACLAS=MB050
//SYSPRINT  DD SYSOUT=*
//SYSIN     DD DUMMY

Getting below error message:
Code:
EDC4182 30 Cannot open converter from IBM-037 to IBM-1208

Could you please help.

psivamadhusudhan,

You need to talk to your system programmer if the conversion service is installed. If you are authorized to issue system commands then you can issue the command
Code:
 D UNI,CONV OR
 D UNI,ALL
and press enter. It should show you the available active conversions table. Check and see if you have the conversion 037 to 1208 listed. If it is NOT then your systems programmer need to install it.

You can also try with TOCODE(IBM-1200)'
