abracadabra,

The addpop and removepop are explained in detail in ISPF Services Guide. check the following links which explains these features in detail.

ADDPOP - Start Pop-Up Window Mode

REMPOP - Remove a Pop-Up Window

If you are interested here is the link to z/OS V1R2.0 ISPF Services Guide

Hope this helps...

Brian,
I had posted something to that effect http://www.mvsforums.com/helpboards/viewtopic.php?t=977. Perhaps, it would help.

Brian,

Most of the questions are related either to programming or in depth explanation of the topic.

I usually start with the main page of mvsforums. It has all the manual links categorized by subject.Click on the subject link and it will open a long list of manuals.I use Find on this page (CTRL+F) to select the approriate manauls.

For any language the most of the questions asked here can be found in either application programming or language reference.

For example: The question asked here is about removepop/addpop . These are ISPF related and the come under services. So I used searched for services(using CTRL+F) from the long list of ISPF manuals. once you find them you can choose an approriate manual for your operating system. I always try to choose the z/os manual as they are more upto date.

The other day someone asked about CEDA. CEDA is a cics supplied transactions. So Click on the cics manual link on the main page of mvsforums and then do a find on "supplied" and boom you have the manual for " cics supplied tranasctions".

Once you find the right manual then it is very easy to search for the topic.just click on the flashlight/torchlight icon and type in the key words and press enter. You will get the list of topics where the keywords are listed.

Sometimes I give a direct link to the topic and then the person comes back and asks for a different topic in the same manuals.

ex: take the example of removepop. The link posted points directly to the topic

http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr_OS390/BOOKS/ISPZSG10/2.55?DT=20010618134533

Now if you want the see the contents of the book click on the or choose the partial link from the link above. The last node of the link is the link to the topic 2.55. so if you want to view the manual , just remove the last node as shown below

http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr_OS390/BOOKS/ISPZSG10/

Hope this gives some insights about using the manuals

Cogito,

An excellent startup point this. I thought the board and me would benefit more from people who use the search site most frequently. You have made it absolutely clear that you get umpteen hits for a single search and to narrow down to the exact topic takes much longer than expected.

I would welcome all board members to actively contribute to this search reopsitory.

Mr Brian. Very Happy
