hi,
is there any parameter while creating a file so that we can extend the period after which it will migrate?
or any other way to avoid migration? |

dohellwithmf,
Talk to your SMS management people, they are the ones who sets the rules.
You can have a weekly job which would issue hrecall to all of your datasets in batch mode

And why would you wish to do that ?
Unless it is a production file - then YES - go talk to storage management about it. We are sympathetic to production problems.
Otherwise .........................
It is blatently obvious that you DO NOT use these files on a regular basis, so why do you want to use a valuable resource like DASD space, which stops others from using it when their need may be greater than yours.
As a storage manager, I set the rules based on company policy, not on the whim of someone who does not want their own datasets migrated.
So from my view I can see someone who wants to waste HSM resource by recalling the datasets only to waste DASD resource because they believe that their datasets should not be migrated. _________________ If it's true that we are here to help others,

LOL -- Sivaraj, it should be noted that not every site allows every RACF user to log-on to ISMF panels. Unless, I'm mistaken, OP has to have a authority to punt through the ISMF panels before he can check MGMTCLAS parm defined in his site under ISMF panel. _________________ Regards,
