I have a VSAM that was being used in a job. While the vsam was being updated the job abended. Now whenever I try to use that VSAM ir gives me a contention. I tried IDCAMS VERIFY but it didn't work. Can some one suggest me a way to release that file.

By any chance, was the file being used by any online transaction in cics ?

1. What operation did you try on the VSAM ?
2. WHat is the exact error code/message ?
