Hi all,
we are running a Cobol program which is currently picking up the num of shares( primary KEY) from DB2 table and comparing it with the num of shares coming from file( file is sorted out on num of shares). If both match then price of share from db2 is written out to output file along with other fields from flat file.

Now my question:-

Can we achieve this just by using any 3rd party tool (SYNCSORT/INSYNC/ICETOOL)?

If Yes, Can any one please let me know how to go about achieving this?

Thanks,
Tattva

tattva,

Yes it is possible but why would you want to do that? Any specific reason ?

Hi Kolusu,

that was the initail requirement. The file has millions of records and the Cycle time is more than 3 hrs. wanted to know if by using any 3rd party tools, we can reduce the cycle/CPU time .

Any help in this regard will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Kolusu

tattva,

cycle time of 3 hours ? I don't think the pgm should take that much cycle time to complete with the requirements you have specified. Unless you are doing something complex , the requirement seems pretty simple.

Did you run an explain on your sql statement?

Are you taking any checkpoints in between the selects ?
