This is probably the wrong topic, but I still need an answer.

If anybody has one.

We did a RECEIVE TRANSFERONLY of DB2 UDB V8. This was not an entirely new procedure for me as I did an upgrade of CICS from 4.1 to CICSTS 3.1 late last year, and used electronic delivery.

But CICS was a paltry 11 meg, and easily fit into the HFS.
DB2, at something like 1,176 meg is a hundred times bigger, so I promptly ran out of HFS space. I then had to jury rig up some JCL and stuff to create a new mountpoint for smpnts and gave it almost an entire 3390-3.

The TRANSFERONLY finally got done correctly. So I unpacked the DB2 samplib library (HDB8810.F3), built my SMPE CSI, and tried to do a RECEIVE FROMNTS...

It blew up again on space problems trying to extract the relfiles BACK INTO THE SMPNTS DIRECTORY IN THE HFS.

I am really, really tired of this rubbish. I have tons of regular 3390s at my disposal and just want to unzip the whole darn package to regular, vanilla IBM files. Real files that live in VTOC's. Did I mention that I am really tired of fighting the HFS?

Any help or hints would be greatly appreciated. IIRC, CICS came with a job that unpacked the whole order. But that was last November and this DB2 thing has got me to the point I can barely remember anything older than last week...

I've not worked with electronic delivery for a whole product! I would suggest that you use zFS files mounted with PARM='aggrgrow' and they can expand dynamically. Good Luck.

Thanks! I created a new HFS, a full volume 3390, and copied my SMPPTFIN files over there. I am now retrying the RECEIVE.

Someday, when I have more time, I may try to learn about zFS. But I am Unix idiot and the learning curve right now would delay me too much.

I hate Unix! Took me like two hours to do simple file copies! And MAN is useless.

Anyways, should have enough space now, if not, I will go through another iteration.
