venx,
I would definitely go for the real mainframe training instead of a simulator.Back in 1997 I had my mainframe training from ALIT(Bangalore) and it was good. I am not sure if they still offer training. Folks from India would be able to help out finding the good training institutes.
I am happy to see that many people are interested in mainframes. Even though I learnt a couple of web based technologies, I never really liked them. Partially it may be due to the fact that I am not working full time on those web techonologies.
I just love the good old mainframes.

In Chennai, DSQ (formerly SquareD) and BITECH were offering training with their mainframe. Not sure, if they still do it. There are others now, that offer training with leased mainframe connectivity. Leading newspapers carry regular ads from them. |

Hmmm,
I wonder if I should consider teaching in India next year when I retire. I have a lifetime teaching credential and about 35 years of experience. |
