How to delete data & index components of a KSDS when the base entry of cluster does not exist? It is indeed the case in my shop. _________________ Gore |

Hello Gaurav,
Do you have File Aid in your shop ?If so, you may try deleting the data/index components through it. _________________ Regards,

How did you manage to delete the base cluster without deleting the data and index components... |

Hi Gaurav I am not sure whether you have the condition called orphan datasets...where an entry is still in the VVR...In that case you will have to delete the VVR..The IDCAMS control card for that is
DELETE VSAM.DATA PURGE VVR.
I think I am missing one thing here, the reference of the VVDS which contains the VVR...Please check that and find out.. _________________ Rajib |

You can also define the cluster again and then having a complete vsam dataset delete it. You need to know where it was cataloged, on which volume it exists, etc.
//RECAT EXEC PGM=IDCAMS
//SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=*
//SYSIN DD *
DEFINE CLUSTER( -
NAME(LMNPU1.TMON30.CBFILE) -
RECATALOG -
VOLUMES(MVSS1P)) -
CATALOG(UCAT.LMP.VMVSS1P) |
