Hi,

I have a situation as follows.

background:
I recieve two files from a vendor on a daily basis , not together and from different locations at different times. I use a single program to process these, ftp the processed files to a windows server and update SQL database. This job is set to be triggered on the creation of these files ( as GDGs).

Current Scene:
I need to now FTP these files additonally to another windows server, to be picked up by another vendor application. The vendor cannot handle if I append the two feeds into a single file. I cannot use SUNIQUE option(which is used to create file name variants) as windows FTP does not recogonise this command.

Does any of you have any other approach of dynamically naming the FTPed file? or split this file at the windows end, usig a BAT code?

Thanks
SBA

Use a program (or utility) to create the FTP commands to create filenames that you desire. Make sure you include the output of that program in your FTP process.

Hi Kolusu,

Thank you very much. I could resolve the problem using EZACFSM1.
I searched for previous posts on ftp, but didn't find this one.

Sorry for posting similar question.

Thanks
Shakkina

Hi Kolusu,

The query that I have is somewhat similar, Will it be possible for me to get the file size when the server is doing FTP to the mainframe. I want to FTP the data either to DASD or Tape based on the file size. Please suggest.

Regards,
RajSanj

Sounds like it should be pretty straight-forward if the application that generates the file can track the size and make that decision. Otherwise, using the filesize from a directory listing, you're going to have to accomodate all of the methods of stating filesizes (bytes, KB, MB, GB, TB) in your calculation.
