I can't find mention of it anywhere on this web site & I can't find a decent definitive explanation of what it is or what it does, even on Computer Associate's own site !!!

Anybody know what it is and/or what other software does the same job ?!?

Cheers in advance ...

Hello Vodkasoda,

It is a Front end Program or group of program used by CA products to access/update many pieces of their central code, Some pieces of the code have ISPF interfaces as well. Among the functions of it, you can find new products licenses and product features in some cases. Anyway you betteer get in touch with your CA representative or your shop Sysprog who maintains CA products in order to get more information. It has been some time since I dealt with it and things may have changed.

Vodkasoda,

AFAIK CA got rid of CA-ACTIVATOR long time ago. They stopped packaging it on new releases. If a release is already packaged using CA-Activator, it will continue to receive genlevel tapes in both SMP/E and CA-Activator format, but new releases will no longer have CA-Activator.

Hope this helps...

Cheers

Thanks very much for both of your prompt answers. I'm applying for a Job and the agancy has sent me a long list of Applications that are used at the client site, asking that I indicate which programs I've used.

I wanted to make sure that I indicated I'd used any IBM equivalents to the long list of CA products ... which in this case I haven't, but at least I now know what it is when/if they ask me about it !!!

Thanks again ...
