You didn't say what software you are using for the backups.
If you are using DFSMSdss (DSS) or vanilla FDR, then stacking backups on tape becomes a manual process, using JCL. There are some programs which can help, such as FATSCOPY and similar tape stacking utilities to copy the backups and stack them on tape.
If you use HSM or FDRABR, then stacking backups on tape is automatic. this is the preferable way to do it. _________________ Bruce A. Black
