Currently the Command Input Line in SDSF is displaying on the bottom of the screen. I've searched all through the help in SDSF in hopes of finding how I can get the command line to the top, but had no success. Some of my co-workers have the command input line at the top of their SDSF screens but don't remember how they got them there. Can someone help? Confused

Our setup is a little different than normal. When we log on to TSO, we are presented with this menu:

    CUSTOMPAC MASTER APPLICATION MENU
    OPTION ===> SCROLL ===> PAGE

    USERID - JMOON1
    TIME - 11:22

IS ISMF - Interactive Storage Management Facility
    P PDF - ISPF/Program Development Facility
IP IPCS - Interactive Problem Control Facility
R RACF - Resource Access Control Facility
SD SDSF - System Display and Search Facility
DI DITTO - Data Interfile Transfer, Testing and Operations
    SM SMP/E - SMP/E Dialogs
IC ICSF - Integrated Cryptographic Service Facility
OS SUPPORT - OS/390 ISPF System Support Options
OU USER - OS/390 ISPF User Options
HC HCD - Hardware Configuration Definition
BMR BMR READ - BookManager Read (Read Online Documentation)
BMI BMR INDX - BookManager Read (Create Bookshelf Index)
X EXIT - Terminate ISPF using list/log defaults

Normally, SDSF is an option off the ISPF/PDF Menu. In our setup,
as illustated above, SDSF is a selection from the CUSTOMPAC MASTER menu as is PDF (Where the options menu is found.)
I have tried removing the '/' from the COMMAND LINE AT BOTTOM option, which does change it in PDF, but it doesn't change it in SDSF as I would have hoped.
On the SDSF screen, under the OPTIONS menu, item 6, screen options, it leads me to believe (when I get help) that the command input line can be changed, however there is no way to make it happen.

Essssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
e Set Screen Characteristics
e
e More: +
e The Set Screen Characteristics pop-up lets you define the
e appearance of SDSF panels. It includes these options:
e
e o Display action bar: This turns on or off the display of the
e action bar at the top of the screen.
e
e o Title lines: The top line of SDSF panels
e
e o Command input line: The second line of SDSF panels
e
e o Column headings: The top line of tabular data
e
e o Message lines: One or more lines used to display messages
e
e o Information lines: One or more lines used to display
e current values
e
e o Output fields for active jobs: Lines on tabular panels for
e active jobs

Apparently the Set Screen Characteristics option is disabled somehow.

Can you get to SDSF after you select PDF, that way it should know how you want the command line displayed? If not then the normal ISPF panel menu code to call SDSF would be something like

PGM(ISFISP) NEWAPPL(ISF) SCRNAME(SDSF) NOCHECK

so maybe you could code a rexx program to do that for you from within ISPF(PDF).

such as

/* rexx */
'ISPEXEC SELECT PGM(ISFISP) NEWAPPL(ISF) SCRNAME(SDSF) NOCHECK'
return

The set characteristics option you posted is just for how to display (color, hiliting, etc), not position.

Unfortunately I can't. I have to select SDSF off the primary menu. I'll pass along the information you gave me to ours systems programmer. He's out today, but will be back tomorrow. (He's one of the people here who's command line is at the top of his SDSF screen, but doesn't remember how he got it there!).

Type SETTINGS on any ISPF menu (not necessarily within SDSF) or, on you menu it will be P.0

SEMIGEEZER,
As I said before, when I remove the '/' from the "Command line at bottom" choice, it doesn't change where the command line is in SDSF, it only changes it in PDF. Neutral

Semigeezer, I apologize for my lack of understanding. I went to SDSF, typed in SETTINGS as you suggested, and the options menu came up for me so I could remove the '/' from the COMMAND LINE AT BOTTOM option. I'm now a happy camper! Razz
