|
|
Hi,
While going through an IDCAMS control card for an extended VSAM, I came across a comment "Add 8 bytes for Shrink". The physical record length of this file is greater than the logical length by 8 bytes.
Is there any requirement that the physical record length of an extended VSAM has to be greater than the logical length by 8 bytes?
Regards,

Meetrb,
The additional 8 bytes you see might belong to the Compression software( SHRINK/MVS) and has got nothing to do with the EXTENDED feature. CA bought Shrink/MVS, Shrink/IMS, and Shrink/DB2 from Sterling software and renamed to CA-Compress for MVS, IMS, and DB2 respectively.
Hope this helps...
Cheers

Thanks Kolusu.
Is there any user interface to this CA-Compress tool that we can use in order identify the files which have been defined with this shrink option?
