S9(04) is display numeric (4 bytes), is this what you intend? Or would it be COMP or COMP-3?

No there is no Comp defined. Actuall its the return code of SQLCODE.
this SQLCODE is returned from the Cobol program, and i am reading it in ezytrieve, I want to know which datatype shall that be defined as ? |

S9(04) is a signed numeric field which occupies 4 bytes. so in easytreive just define it as
Code: |
DEFINE PASS-VAR W 04 N 0

Fyi.. the sqlcode is indeed a comp field. so you need to define it as
Code: |
DEFINE PASS-VAR W 02 B 0
