vinush2000,

Post detailed information on what you're trying to accomplish. Do not make people guess what you mean. This will give you a much better chance of getting a good answer to your question.

1. What is the LRECL , RECFM of the input and output ?

2. What is the postion and format of the field to be changed?

3. How do you identify the header and trailer records?

4. Please post a sample input and desired output.

hi,

after some struggle, i got the answer. Its using OUTREC fields. But, is it possible to use conditional statements in OUTREC.

like, if n th byte is ' ' then change m th byte from '1' to '2'

(Do you see any improvement in my 'posting' skills Mr. kolusu?)

thanks all.

I am not speaking for Kolusu; but I definitely DO NOT see any improvement in your skills.

Kolusu has a reason for asking those questions; because that will help him to code a step that will do the job with hardly any modifications from your side.

Go back to the original post from Kolusu and please answer.
