Hi,
We are in the process of evalauating using CICS in the middleware to access mainframe verses using DB2 connect. I am just wondering the pros and cons in using these products.
The Database is on mainframe and its DB2. From the front end we would be sending the request and these requests does some kind of data validations and data creation and these data has to be captured into DB2.
I had a look at the Db2 connect, its like similar to anathor ODBC connectins and all the sql's woudl be dyanmic. so the caching is a probelm.
More over Db2 stored proceudre does not support the transactional processing witin the procedure.
I have application knowledge in using the CICS,MQseries but not in a position to evaluate usage of CICS.
CICS is very robust in performing Multithreading and security wise as well.
I just came to know, that CKTI transaction takes more CPU usage.
I am not sure what would be the Pros and Cons in using the CICS with MQ to access DB2 database verses DB2 connect.
It would help me a lot if you can share your experiences in using one of these products, what the pros and cons are?
I have been going thorigh this forum to get an idea of pros and cons. But most of them looks due to the set up problems or application problems.
What i am looking is form the performance perspective view, which one would be the best to use of CICS/MQ or DB2 connect?
Your valuable suggestions are highly appriciated.
Lookng forward for your replies..
Thanks,
