Hi, not sure if I can do this or not ... I'm creating a system where my users enter their End of Year figures into panels, which will then be used to update the necessary Parameter cards before the Batch Run.

Basically, can I define an INPUT field as having a Decimal Point in it ?!?

I can obviously set up a double field as per this :

! Enter SMP Amount : }Z +

Wouldn't your users then have to guess where to start their input so the decimal point lines up?

You may be better off allowing them to enter values in a more natural way, using ENUM in your verify. This is the manual page:

Lining up the Decimals wouldn't be a problem, I don't think, as I'm justifying data to the right ... BUT, your second point (no pun intended !) is more valid. I've decided to force them into entering Numerics only & issued a comment stating that the Decimal Point is NOT to be entered. This is better for me, as the Parameter cards the entries have to be added to do not expect decimal points.

The only thing that worries me is that it does expect decimal places & if the users enter 12345 instead of 1234500 we might get problems ... still I've got plenty of time to work on a solution for that !!!

Thanks Mervyn ...

You may need to redisplay the panel with the values formatted and ask for confirmation.

Good luck.
