Hi
I have a file which contains several records. We have different copybooks for each record. Can somebody tell how mapping is done and on what basis?
Secondly if in a record there are some 10 odd colomns so can different colomns map to different copybook.
Any type of information will help.

sumit,

Post detailed information on what you're trying to accomplish. Do not make people guess what you mean. This will give you a much better chance of getting a good answer to your question.

Are you talking XREF option in file-aid? or XREF compile option in cobol or Assembler Option?

Judging by the question I can make an educated guess that you are looking for file-aid XREF option. So please post detailed information so that we can avoid the guesswork.

Log on to file-aid main menu and select option 7. once you are in the option just press F1 and go thru the tutorial which will answer all your queries.

an extract by following the above procedure.
Code:

This function creates or maintains record layout cross reference (XREF) members in a special File-AID PDS library.  XREFs are used to automatically match record layouts to data records in File-AID functions which use layouts to format data.  An XREF is needed whenever the data being formatted requires more than a single layout in a single source library member.

If your shop has valid file-aid licence then you go to

http://frontline.compuware.com/

log into it using your shop's client id . client Id can be found

1.Go to file-aid main menu.
2.Choose option 0(parameters)
3.Choose option 1(system)

The first line lists your client number.

Hope this helps...

Cheers
