Hello, could anyone comment on what the fastest DB2 database unload utilities are on the market for obtaining data from large (millions of rows of records) databases? I know about the DSNTIAUL utility, but do not know how it compares to some of the other third party utilities.

Thanks,

Dennis...

bufbooth,

IBM now has a new utility UNLOAD that delivers better performance and more flexibility than DSNTIAUL. It supports both Tablespace and Image Copy as the source and allows unloading of multiple partitions in parallel. You can provide field selection for the unloaded data and the ordering and formatting options via SQL-like syntax. UNLOAD also provides for record sampling and character encoding. The new UNLOAD utility can dynamically allocate both sysrec and syspunch datasets ( dynalloc sysrec and syspunch ).

Check this link for a detailed explanation of the utility

The DB2 High Performance Unload for z/OS also outperforms the DSNTIAUL and is used for unloading large data.

Check this link for explanation of the utility

Also CA's Fast Unload outperforms DSNTIAUL

Hope this helps...

Cheers

Hello,

I just found out that I have the utility "BMC Unload Plus for DB2", however, I cannot find any documentation on how it compares to DSNTIAUL or UNLOAD.

Thanks for any help,

Dennis...

BMC is good in the sense that it offers lot of advantages to a DBA in similarity to the IBM's unload. It uses a program BMCUNLD for unloading the data.
