akhilraj2005,

Unfortunately Syncsort does not Support IFTHEN syntax. DFSORT introduced the IFTHEN feature in the latest PTF in DEC 2004. Syncsort manuals are copyrighted and hence are not available online. If your shop has a valid licence then you might request a copy of the manual.

Hope this helps...

Cheers

akhilraj2005,

Syncsort does NOT have an equivalent to IFTHEN. IFTHEN and many other DFSORT/ICETOOL features are ONLY AVAILABLE with DFSORT/ICETOOL.

DFSORT has all of its books available online for free. Syncsort does not have its books available online.

If you or anyone else would like some documents prepared by the DFSORT Team that discuss what we see as the advantages of DFSORT, as well as migration considerations, send me a note offline (yaeger@us.ibm.com). Please put "DFSORT" somewhere in your Subject line to catch my attention.

Thanks Kolusu and Frank,
unfortunately wherever i worked i only had syncsort at my shop..that gave me assumption that syncsort may be free or its easy to buy than dfsort..thats why many of the shops are using it..i personally fell in love with dfsort after joining this board..but In any case I am the looser as i can not try out the dfsort's enhanced & more efficient solutions given by you in this board Crying or Very sad

Neither of these assumptions is true. Syncsort is far from free. DFSORT is an optional feature of z/OS and OS/390 - it's shipped with them. So it's quite easy for a shop to enable ("buy") it. Syncsort is an add-on product.
