When I do following :
-ISPF 3.4
-Entered dataset name
-opened dataset in (Browse ,View , Edit or Member list mode using B/V/E/M)
-Memebr list appears
-Now If I am writing on command line ' F member-name'
It is working and taking , me to that member , but earlier I use to receive error message saying 'invalid command'. That means, now on command line , in member list ; both Locate and Find commands are working.
Is there any explaination for this?
Most likely it looks like upgrade of ISPF version .....
Can others also execute find command ,where I am able to use it now?
My ISPF ver. is 5.2. |

The FIND command is not working for me. My ISPF version is 5.0. It seems to be a new enhancement with ISPF 5.2

I guess ISPF 5.2 version has included this feature that one can FIND in the data set list too.
Point to be noted here is that there is difference in FIND and LOCATE command. LOCATE will search for the characters from the begining of the member name.
While FIND will search for characters anywhere in the member name i.e, anywhere in the 8 characters. |

There is one more difference:
L abcdef
For Locate even if the 'abcdef' is not there in the list , but locate will take you to the member matching nearest to the name 'abcdef',
But for find this is not the case : no match , no find.
By te way , question here is not the difference between Locate and Find,
Question is how it is happening ? (Any explaination for this..) |

Press HELP and check out the primary commands. Use the ISPF Tutorial to see what is new in your release, or RTFM and read the new features. _________________ Dave Crayford |
