Has anyone installed the Fujitsu cobol compiler ? It's backlevel but free and I was wondering if there were any pitfalls before I proceeded...

Thanks !

I installed it on Windoze 98 many years ago. As far as I remember it was OK but I was only using it to learn COBOL and I was using a number of other free compilers as well.

I recently tried to install it on XP Home but the instalation failed - but that may be due to a temperamental DVD drive. I then started to install the current Microfocus academic edition only to notice it requires XP Professional - why I do not know. What student can afford the extra hundreds of currency units to install that?

Nic - I installed the MicroFocus academic compiler at home and I do NOT have XP 'Professional'. It does compile ok, although I need to spend some more time with it.
