Hi,

How to resolve SB37, if it is space problem.

I have space declared as Cylinder 200 50 , Rounded. will it be a problem if the sort work files are declared with the above space. please correct me.

Increase the space of your dataset and submit the job.

Check the belowlink to calculate space parameters depending on the lrecl and volume of records.

How much work space you need depends on various factors such as the size of the input file.

Generally, it's better to NOT specify JCL SORTWKdd DDs so that DFSORT can dynamically allocate the work space. I'd suggest removing the JCL work files.

For more information, see "Appendix A. Using Work Space" of "z/OS DFSORT Application Programming Guide".

The UNIT parameter might solve your problem if the SB37 is for SORTOUT. See JCL manual.

Hello all,

I just received this question from my friend, guess he shud have been questioned in an interview.

A file has Just 10 records and Space allocated is 50,50 cylinders. The JCL gives SB37 abend, what could be the reason?

Cheers
Arvind

1 - As thgis is a new topic a new topic should have been started.
2 - As it is an interview question it should have been put in that forum
