				| How can you run queries in SPUFI (involving complex criteria, large volumes & eating large time slices) without the DBA yelling at you ?. I know this question needs more details but was curious to know if there is some option that i can specify upfront.

 TIA.

				| mfnerd, There are many things you can do, based on your requirements. Ex. try to run batch spufi or use DSNTEP2(batch). If looking at large volumes - use an utility to download the data, if looking for a sample set of data for a particular condition try to use FOR FETCH FIRST nn ROWS ONLY. Anyway Spufi has its own limitation on the number of records that can be retrieved/displayed.

PS : remember the protocol - no more TIA

				| To answer your question in DB2 terms: Try to establish a view on the access paths the optimizer is choosing. That means: EXPLAIN your statements.
To do this by hand (execute an Explain statement and then fiddling around with the PLAN_TABLE contents) is cumbersome, but worth a try. Perhaps you have tools at hand in your installation, which can help you, e.g. SQL-EASE (former Platinum, now CA).
