My program doesnt have any DB2 code but it calls a program that needs DB2 tables. Do i need to use IKJEFT01 to call my main program and passing the name of the plan that subprogram OR simply passing the loadlibs of both the programs in JCL with EXEC PGM=main-program would do.

You will have a package for your subprogram and plan it to the main program and you should invoke it via IKJEFT01.
