This may sound absurd but is happening and driving me nuts Surprised ..

After I update one SQL which is in a PDS member and I resubmit the Batch Spufi Job/JCL .. The Job upon resubmitting is continuing to execute the older version of the member (before update ver). Shocked

Does anyone have any clue what is up with the PDS member that it wont reflect the changes upon Job submission ??? In the sense I can very well see the changes in the PDS member after having saved it and reopened it. still for some reason the Job is messing up.....

The Input Spufi DS is defined as DISP=SHR in the Jcl.

are you sure that the DSN of the DD statement defining the 'PDS member' is the same as the one that you keep updating?

online and interactive sometimes can provide problems concerning the 'active module' being executed.

Batch execution means it will always take the current 'version' of the load (or in this case, a pds member containing sql). so, the only answer is that your JCL is NOT pointing to the member that you keep updating. - guaranteed!

vini,

Were you still in the edit mode of the pds member (without issuing save) and submitted the job from the other split screen?

btw when you say batch Spufi , are you really running spufi in batch or running DB2 utilities like DSNTIAUL....?

Dick & Kolusu,

Today the same Job upon submission is picking up the updated member without having touched the JCL nor PDS. Rolling Eyes How strange is that ?!!

Trust me yesterday I was pointing to the right member and did issue the resub after saving the member. Thats why I said it was a weird occurence I never came across in these long years that Ive been working.

I discovered everything was as it was supposed to be ....but my observation was wrong ....
The Output DS I was looking at after Job execution was an older DS and the output was now being directed to SYSPRINT/SYSOUT instead . So when I look at thise I see the right results Very Happy

Sorry for the confusion !! Embarassed

vini,

thx and my respect for getting back to us with your problem disposition.

otherwise, I would not have had the chance to realize that I have to take just a couple of minutes longer to answer questions.
