i would like to get some gerenral idea about what kind of things to look for if i want to reduce the batch window time on mainframe

The System profile
40 online telon with 4 reports

128 batch telon pgms and 59 of which are DB2

Although it has IMS DB access, it is predominantely DB2 environment
and some VSAM access

Am not sure about the current batch window

What i can think:
scrutanise every SQL access ... can i combine them ...do i really want, etc

I do not want go to the extent of making drastic changes to the tables by partitioning, etc

If i have many steps in the same JCL is it possible to run them in parallel
Do i have to have them as separate jobs?
