|
|
I am having a flat file which is in EBCDIC format, also having few ASCII values in it. Is there any way to view the actual ASCII value other than using SORT/FILEAID.
I need it like... if we type "HEX ON" we can see the hexa decimal values. Like this is there any command in TSO for viewing the actual content of ASCII values. _________________ RAJA MOHAMED |

ha.rajamohamed,
To find Invalid characters with the FIND command try out this.Hope it helps you.
[code:1:a30afbf49b]
Special characters that can be used in a picture string are:
= any character . invalid characters
@ alphabetic characters - non-numeric characters
# numeric characters '<' lower case alphabetics
$ special characters '>' upper case alphabetics

I don't know how you could have BOTH data types in the same file?!? Do you really mean non-displayable characters?
A file is either encoded in EBCDIC or ASCII. Your EBCDIC file may have non-alphanumeric hex values, but they would be different values if you copied the file to your PC in ASCII. _________________ Regards,
