Hi,
I wan't to know what happens when we allocate, delete, catalogue and uncatalogue a dataset.
Maybe I should have asked this question few years back when I was having mainframe training but I slept through instead.
Thanks,
Diba. |

Dibakar,
Check this link for detailed explanation of What is Allocation?
Deleting Data Sets
CATLG means the system is to place an entry pointing to the data set in the system or user catalog. For CVOL catalogs, the system creates any missing index levels.
UNCATLG means the system is to delete (1) the entry pointing to the data set in the system or user catalog and (2) unneeded indexes, except for the highest level entry.
Hope this helps...
cheers
