The maximum information I have on this is -
Can somebody throw more light on this. I am feeling that those who have worked on unix or other systems have not come across anything similar so they don't understand why we need this in mainframe?

Hi
Xpediter is a debugging tool. The DDIO is the file where Xpediter save the listing of your program. When testing, Xpediter reads your source lines from this DDIO file.
Usually, you have different DDIO files for different environments.
