Hii all,
My reqmnt: Say suppose my Id in mainframes is ab1234. I need to search for a string in all the datasets created by my ID.
Say i need to search for a string in all the datasets - ab1234.*.*
As this can't be achieved using 3.14 option,
Can someone guide me through the JCL or is there any command?
Thanks,
Anjali |

anjali,
You CANNOT search all datasets as datasets can be of different length. If all your datasets are of the same lrecl then may be rexx can issue a DSLIST command and prepare the JCL to invoke the search.
Hope this helps...
Cheers

On a z/OS 1.4 or later system use the SRCHFOR command from option 3.4.
ie from panel ISRUDSL0 enter the command srchfor xxxx |

nevilh,
That was a cool command. Never knew that existed. You learn something new everyday. Thanks
Just in case if people are wondering as to how to find the OS version on their mainframe then you can try the following.
Choose Option 7.3 from ISPF main menu. It lists all the variables. Pf8 and you will find the variable
On the right you will find the OS version.
Another alteranative is type WHO at SDSF command prompt and on the second line you will find
