I'm an MVS/TSO newbie and new to the mainframe world in general. Is there a way to discover OS version info and hardware specs from TSO/ISPF?

In unix one can use the "uname" command for OS version info, for example.

For hardware information, I am interested in things like the CPU(s) type, the amount of physical RAM, etc.

A link to a source that contains this info would suffice. TIA, bvl

I would recommend running TASID. It is an excellent tool written by Doug Nadel aka Semigeezer

You can download it from here

Hope this helps...

Cheers

Also quite handy is entering command "ISPVCALL STATUS". You get an amazing amount of information returned!
