I would like to create a list of all printers defined to JES2, inclucing their current unit= value (obviously I cannot use the JES parms because the unit value could have been changed). Is there a way I can write a program to read some control blocks to create that list?

I suspect there may be something like that already on the CBT tape. Jes control blocks are notoriously unstable -- they seem to change with every release. You could use UCBSCAN to get devices on the system and EDTINFO to get information about unit names. SHOWMVS may do it, TASID also, and MXI almost certainly does it. SDSF probably shows it as well (I don't have a mainframe available at the moment to look at any of those programs).
