Hi all,
we'd like to keep only two bind version per program. We dont know exactly which parameters we need to have in the compilation processor.
We tryied with VERSION(2) instead of VERSION(AUTO) but we dont get the new version replace the old one.
Any idea?
Thanks a lot |

Monaco,
Did you have the ACTION(REPLACE) keyword on your bind card?

Thanks Kolusu for your answer but we are looking for the way to keep to versions. If we execute a bind we replace the old one and still we have two version.
Is there a way to delimit the number of versions?
Thanks |

The bind process has no means to delimit the number of versions to be kept in the catalog. You have to issue FREE PACKAGE commands for those packages you don't need.
In our house we have a rexx procedure looking into the catalog and retrieving all unwanted version ids. For those a free package jcl is created and submitted.

Hello Monaco,
looking into the procedure I discovered, that too many site specifica are included to make the process useful for you.
The idea is, that you have to know the dbrm libraries, whose members are bound to your db2 tables. In the dbrms you find the consistancy tokens, with which you can make the connection to the data in SYSPACKAGE. With these informations you can identify all db2 packages, for which no dbrm is available any more.
These are the candidates for FREE PACKAGE commands.
Special consideration can be applied to NCALL modules. Those are excluded from the automated house-keeping in our shop.
regards

Hi all,
after long time i come back with the FREE PACKAGE issue.
Could someone provide me an example about how to get the consistancy tokens from the DBRM library?
We think to use a REXX but it takes ages.
Thanks a lot.
Kind regards. |
