I am modifying a Natural program by bring the Production version into development region. It uses Adabas files in Production. When I try compiling the program (using the CHECK command), I am getting the following error.

NAT0002 No file is available with specified name or number.

Do I need to have the Adabas file in Development region. If so, how can I do that. Please let me know how can I resolve this.

Kolusu,

I'm curious as to where you found reference material on Natural/ADABAS.

Could you share your source with us?

I use Google to search. Here is a link of the PDF manuals

Hope this helps...

Thanks Kolusu,

Just one more question, that has been bugging me for some time now.

what is your background?
# of yrs. experience?
Current occupation/title?
education and training?

I ask this because I see that there is very little that you DON'T know and find it completely puzzling how any one person can know as much as you do. You appear to be the Guru of mainframes and most likely other platforms and softwares too.

Kolusu,

I deleted my bulk mail without really paying attention to what it was.
I did see a glimpse of the subjects and believe you replied to me via email. I didn't get a chance to read your message, could you resend?

Kolusu,

Kok328 can now rest in peace but what about me Rolling Eyes

Your answers/explanations/vast knowledge amaze me. During the initial days after my joining this forum, I used to think that KOLUSU is probably some group of people working together to help us.

Can you please write/mail something about you.

Not really, I still feel there's more than meets the eye with this guy.
He knows more than a person has a right to.
He has answers to almost every post out here regardless of topic.
It's just not normal. Shocked

However, I once knew a person from IBM and he seemed to know everything about everything. So I asked him, "how can you know absolutely everything there is to know about mainframes?".
His reply was "I don't but I am smart enough to know where to look for the answers" Wink

PostPosted: Tue Apr 19, 2005 4:28 am    Post subject: Array Limit Reply with quote

The program is in Natural. I have a data item array at level 01 with elementary items defined with in it. The max size of the array is defined to be 200. And the sum of the size of the elementary items is around 150.

So the total size of the array is 30K.

Now my problem is - The program which contains the above declaration failed saying that it has problem with index. When i did the analysis i found that the array can contain only 200 items (max size) but it had to process around 300.

So I thought of increasing the max size of the array to 300 (300 * 153 = 46K (app)). But its giving a compile error saying that it cant hold more than 32K.

Please help me in solving this problem.

I am not an expert in natural, but 32k limit seems to be very low. In cobol you can have a max of 16,777,215 bytes.

You can try to split the array into 2

ex:

Code:

01 W-TBL1.
   05 W-TBL1-ARRAY1 OCCURS 150
      ASCENDING FIELD-1 INDEXED BY W-INDX1.
      10 FIELD-1                PIC X(153).

01 W-TBL2.
   05 W-TBL2-ARRAY2 OCCURS 150
      ASCENDING FIELD-1 INDEXED BY W-INDX2.
      10 FIELD-1                PIC X(153).

Hope this helps...

Cheers
