Is there a way to know the db2 subsystem name, given the alias for it is known ?

ashutosh_agl3,

Look at the main screen of QMF and somewhere in the middle left you will find
"Connected to" . Beneath it you will find the db2 subsystem you are connected it.

SET :l_CH16 = CURRENT SERVER ;
