Can anybody explain the steps of a batch compile JCL. I am new into this line and am not very confident about JCL. Which step should ahve the copybooks etc?

Sample JCL to compile programs

Defining compiler input and output

To copy the copybooks or basis statements you need to add the pds containing these to the SYSLIB dd statement.check this for a detailed explanation of syslib.

I would suggest that you read this manual for a complete understanding of compiling a cobol program in batch mode. Look at chapter 2.0 for Compiling and debugging your program.
