Hi RUV Users,

I have been associated with Centralized administration of VSAM Datasets, defined to CICS. We have got the BMC's Recovery Utility For VSAM installed in our shop already very long back & the product is yet to be explored by anyone. I have been asked to explore the same.

I was just going through the Documentation related to RUV in CICS Environment. I have got a clarification regarding how exactly to archive the CICS Journal extents to RUV. Does it have any automated process of archiving whenever CICS switches journal extents or is it to be done manually? I also came across a product named, Journal Manager Plus which takes care of this automation. Hence, kindly pass on few tips so that I could comfortably proceed with the tool.

What version of CICS are you using? Most versions of CICS TS use the system logger, and as I remember those programs do not work with CICS TS anymore. Double check if you are investing time in a product that will be useless in the future.
