Hi Vinod,
A physical map is a collection of assembler macros which is used as an interface between the terminal and the CICS application program.
A symbolic map is nothing but a COBOL copybook which is used to receive the data entered by the user on to a physical map. You can generate your symbolic maps corresponding to the physical maps that you code, automatically(by using tools like SDF 2 or using ASMA90 with DSECT option) or you can code your own Working storage section and use it as your symbolic map.
I would suggest you to go through a CICS book by Leebert or Kageyama and read the first few chapters.

Regards,
Manas
