All,
(For this thread, you may have some more background here.)

I am new to IMS. I want to know more about the parameter PARLM which appears in /DIS TRAN tranname command.

While analysing a program, I found that a program P1 calls P2 many times over where P1 and P2 are IMS/DC DB2 COBOL programs. I am not sure how the calls are being made.

Are the calls stored in a message queue and processed only when the limit is hit/exceeded? Is this where PARLM comes in? Or, are the calls made as and when they come? Or, can I force former above the latter (or, vice versa)?

I searched high and low in the IMS Database manager and the IMS manual; but, did not get any hits. Could you please guide me to the correct manual?[/url]

In an offline discussion with Kolusu, he explained to me about PARLM. These are the links that he provided.

PARLM

and, Scheduling algorithm

I am going through them and update soon about my conclusions.

Thanks Kolusu.
