GDG Version Creation

Hi,

We have a requirement as below.

We have 2 GDG bases in MVS. For eg.
Code:

ABC.EFG.SA..DATA
ABC.EFG.SA.AUDIT


We are getting these files from external system with same names as below.

Code:


ABC.EFG.SA..DATA(+1)
ABC.EFG.SA.AUDIT(+1)



I have a doubt here, in such case will those files will be stored as GDG versions as GDG base is present? But seniors are saying versions will be created as the incoming files are with (+1).

My knowledge is that we need to write step in JCL to create GDG version.

Please advise. Is there any best method to achieve this.

tvssv,

Versions? +1 will create a new GENERATION of the gdg and not version. If you need to create a version then you need to get past the limit.

Not really. You can go ISPF option 3.2 and allocate +1 generation of the GDG
