Dear all,
I was involved the last few days in a discussion about PL/1, usage of PL/1, support by the vendor and availibility of libraries for PL/1 like JAVA libraries at Github.
If we are talking about libraries we are NOT talking about business specific libraries - we are talking about general libraries like classic data structures like trees, stacks, linked list or for example date / time format converters or tooling, "utility" functionality.
The result of the discussion was, what PL/1 is not really popular worldwide, used in Germany and Austria. Shared libraries are not available. Something like the "JAVA community" doesn't exist for PL/1.
So this topic here now is not a real question - it's more the attempt to get feedback, what happens anywhere in the world with PL/1. Is there any kind of "PL/1 community", Need/interest for libraries? Experiance with the vendor of PL/1?
Let's say: "Comments welcome now."
And for the administrator of MVSForums: Feel free and delete this post or move it to any other place just in case it does not fit here.
You can also refer to this PL/1 page for detailed information about PL/1 (beware some of the information is outdated) _________________ Kolusu

kolusu,
first of all thank you for your answer.
Let's comment the topic this way:
Yes, PL/1 is old, not so common like COBOL. Your provided links are fine, but the content is old stuff.
What I'm talking about (sample)
a) Modern things like https://zowe.org/home/
b) Modern concepts like generic PL/1 library LinkedListOf(x), KeyValuePairOf(x,y)
c) Codesnippets / Hints GetJobName, SubmitJobFromPL/1, HandlingJSON Dataobject, ........
But probably I should join one of the groups you mentioned.

Unfortunately that link does not include a version that runs on Win 10. I have still to try on XP.
Update: installs on XP but it is a 60 day trial version. (You could re-install every 60 days - but do you need it that much?!) _________________ Utility and Program control cards are NOT, repeat NOT, JCL.
