It seems to me that your question is a bit to general. Are you interested in the various testing tools available for mainframe environments? If so, there are several, it really depends on the type of testing and application that is to be tested. Several companies, Compuware and Computer Associates, to name a couple market high end testing tools for Mainframe applications. If you are testing an online application, you may be able to use a tool like a Winrunner script to do some testing and data entry.

Obviously you need the right tool for the job. This will be determined by the environment you are testing in. i.e. batch, online, database, client server, etc.etc.

Mainframe testing is unit testing of Mainframes .
IBM developed mainframes for large data transactions and mainframe testing is very necessary now a days .
most technologies companies offered mainframe testing for larger companies having mainframes and supercomputers.
JCL and DB2 is required for this purpose.

Is this a record? Posting a reply to a topic that is well over 6 years old? The reply is also inaccurate - unit testing is only one subset of testing and DB2 is NOT required if the program in question does not use DB2 - nor is JCL if it is an online (CICS/IMS/ISPF) program.
