Experts,
I believe DFSORT is from IBM and SYNCSORT is from SYNCSORT corporation. How do both the products support same syntax ?..
Thanks,
Ravikumar. |

Because Syncsort has chosen to be mostly compatible with the IBM syntax. _________________ All the best,

Yes, DFSORT is from IBM and Syncsort is from Syncsort, Inc.
Unlike some languages (like COBOL), there are no standards for the sort language and they DO NOT support the same syntax. However, they do each support a subset of the syntax supported by the other product. DFSORT does that to make it easier to migrate from Syncsort to DFSORT. _________________ Frank Yaeger - DFSORT Development Team (IBM)

Does DFSORT have any tools to asses a conversion from Syncsort, or a list of what is not compatible.
If all non compatible functions were removed could the Aliases be setup to point the SYNCSORT programs to execute DFSORT? |

Hi Bob,
Send us an e-mail address offline ( yaeger@us.ibm.com or skolusu@us.ibm.com) and we'll send you some documents prepared by the DFSORT Team that will answer your questions in detail. Please put "DFSORT migration" somewhere in your Subject line. _________________ Kolusu
