Hi,
One of client has a requirement to print barcodes in a report from mainframe.. I have no clue from where to start for this..

Could anyone please guide me on this topic ??

Alternatively you can create bar codes using Java which can be invoked from cobol

I was going through the links but most of the topic just went over my head..

Its really confusing for a beginner like me.. ..


In my clients system, we are using OGL ( overlay generation language 1.00 ) for generating the forms.. while going thru the links I found that by using OGL we can generate the barcodes also.. but the issue is in all the documents its mentioned as OGL 1.1.x . So, not sure whether we can use it..

I didn't get any better solution by going through the links for generating the barcodes..

Do you think there is any easier way to generate the barcodes ? Do we need to install any specific font in each printer ?


I also looked into the java part .. its interesting .. right now I have no idea how to call JAVA modules from mainframe.. I will check it today or tomorrow.
