Guys a question....
We are in a conversion and part of it we need to copy an awful lot of flat files in one GDG to another, and the files are well over 10k cylinders each!
Now my question is, is it feasable to just rename the members to the other GDG?
Example:
GDGRP1.ALLBKUP has the following members.
GDGRP1.ALLBKUP.G0001V00
GDGRP1.ALLBKUP.G0002V00
GDGRP1.ALLBKUP.G0003V00
GDGRP1.ALLBKUP.G0004V00
GDGRP1.ALLBKUP.G0005V00
GDGRP1.ALLBKUP.G0006V00
And rename each of the G000xxx to the GDG GDGRP2:
GDGRP2.ALLBKUP.G0001V00
GDGRP2.ALLBKUP.G0002V00
GDGRP2.ALLBKUP.G0003V00
GDGRP2.ALLBKUP.G0004V00
GDGRP2.ALLBKUP.G0005V00
GDGRP2.ALLBKUP.G0006V00
Using ISPF 3.4 option and 'r' to rename the members.
Oh, and one more thing, when renaming can they be renamed in any order and they appear and are selected in that order?
Say G0001V00 is renamed G0009V00 and it is below the others.
thanks for any help.

Simplest way to find out, and have some fun, is to set up 2 gdg bases, create some gdgs on one base then start playing. _________________ Utility and Program control cards are NOT, repeat NOT, JCL. |
